How to upgrade mac big-sur to monterey via terminal ?

If you have a Mac running Big Sur, it may not support Monterey, but you can still upgrade to it through the Terminal. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Terminal.

  2. Type the following command:

sudo softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 12.6.1

Note: 12.6.1 is a stable and good version, so it is recommended to stick with it for now rather than upgrading to 12.6.2

  1. Wait for the download process to complete, and then select your disk to continue the installation.

It is also suggested to use VNC instead of NoMachine for this process. The host IP and port for VNC is "IP:5900"

If you need assistance with the upgrade, you can also open a ticket to request support.
